New Track Work Party

A HUGE THANKS to everyone that came out to work on the track this weekend.

Today we got clay on the second and third straights. Worked on turn 1 and worked on the first 2 obstacles. It is really starting to look like a track now. Kim Olander brought out food for the volunteers and you guys that couldn't make it out missed a very good lunch. Click here for a link to todays pictures.

Tomorrow Monday we hope to finish up the 1st straight put down more clay and fine tune the whole track. Again the track builder Eric will be out there bright and early in the morning. Several parents have the day off for the Holiday Week and will be out there with their kids since there is no school. If you have time and want to help come on out. It's hard work good friends and allot of fun.

The official address of the new track is 10201 28th St, N. St. Pete fl. 33716 The track is directly across the street from the big hill of the landfill. There is a sign out front. This is a new address and may not show up on your maps. Here is a link to find the property on google maps. Map to new track.

We are going to have a very busy month in December between the 2 tracks. There is the St Pete Parade on Saturday 12-6-08 followed by our annual Christmas Party at the track. The Pinellas Park Parade is on 12-13-08. I will post more information about the parades soon. We have 12 cases of beads in registration that need St Pete tags stapled on that is something you can help do while watching your kids practice. We usually decorate a float for the parades and will need help doing that ask at concession if you want to help. The themes are Holiday celebrations around the world for one and the other parade is A Touch Down for the Holidays. We are thinking about using the profile trailer for the float this year.



All races in December will be on Thursday nights 7:00 - 7:45 practice and registration Race @ 8:00 since these days are school nights they will be 2 moto transfers.




There are 3 practices in December 12/2-12/9 and 12/16 7:00 - 9:00




Parent council 12-14-08




Lock-in planned for 12-20-08 cost $10 more details soon.



In January we will have our state qualifyer at the new track. We really need everyones help in getting the track ready for this race.

What’s going on with the new track and work party plans.

I went out to the new track on Wednesday and talked with the track builder. He was working on the turns and the rhythm section. He said that clay is coming in on Thursday and that as he finishes a section he would start putting clay in place. He is doing the rough in of the track but needs a lot of help spreading out clay and doing the final grooming. He is out there all day during daylight hours except for lunch breaks and etc.
He could use a few people on Friday to help but we will need a lot of help Saturday and Sunday starting at 8:00 AM until-? both days.

Here is a partial list of what we need help with especially this weekend.

1. Spreading the clay out smooth
2. Packing the track if you have a quad we could use ask Tim tonight at practice if he needs it.
3. Please bring any rakes and shovels you have. We have some but could use more.
4. Pouring the concrete on starting hill is planed for Saturday.
5. We also could use help with running errands and getting food & drinks for volunteers.

Other things to work on are.

1. Fencing depending on who will be able to help Tim is hoping to start the weekend after Thanksgiving.
2. Two of the portables are in place but not put together. They really need a good cleaning out. One has already been gone through. They have been exposed to the weather for a long time.
3. Painting the storage units to help keep them from rusting and to make them look better. I will pick up some paint for these.
4. Electrical (A list of what we need to do with this will be posted later.)
5. Plumbing (A list of what we need to do with this will be posted later.)
6. Please remember currently there is no power or water on site. If you want to use power tools a generator would be needed. Several of us have ones that we could bring out.

I want to make everyone clear on upcoming events with

the track and new facility. Sunday Nov 16, 2008 we will

have parent council meeting at the Old Track at 6 pm.

We will be talking about New Track, the Jan 2009 State

Race and Regional, and set some work schedules for

upcoming weeks. On Monday Nov. 17,2008 the NBL track

builder will be here to build new track. If anyone has spare

time during day there more then welcome to come out and

help at new track. I will update this again Sunday night

after parent council and after speaking with NBL track

builder. Remember triple races and state points Saturday.
